Frequently Asked Questions

No, you’re welcome to reach out whether your idea is still taking shape or whether you have something specific in mind.
Some clients come in with a clear subject or direction they’d like to explore, while others start with a more open or evolving idea. Both are completely fine, and I’ll help guide how your idea is developed within my design process.

Working together is collaborative and paced. Clients guide the subject matter, meaning, and overall direction of their piece, while I provide guidance on design, placement, colour, and how the tattoo will live on the body over time.
Designs are worked through together in person, with space for conversation and adjustments throughout the process. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out, and time for questions and revisions is built into my pricing structure so decisions don’t feel rushed.
For a more detailed overview of how projects are planned and developed, you can read more on my Process & Booking page.

All tattoo pigments may change or show some variation in hue or sharpness over time as your body goes through natural changes and exposure to external elements.
When designing and applying tattoos, I keep longevity in mind by considering factors such as contrast between shapes, clarity of composition, and how the piece will read on the body over time, as well discussing both immediate aftercare and providing long term maintenance options for clients. While it isn’t possible to control or predict every variable, thoughtful design and application can make a meaningful difference in how a tattoo ages.

Yes, I work with a wide range of skin tones.
Skin tone can influence how colour is perceived once it heals, as your healed skin sits over the ink like a filter. This means colours may appear differently from person to person, even when the same pigments are used, a variation that’s a normal part of tattooing. In practice, I’ve found that because the entire colour palette shifts together, the result is a piece that still feels balanced and cohesive overall.
When helpful, I offer colour swatching in an inconspicuous spot to see how a colour heals and settles on your skin before committing to it in a larger piece.

Healing varies from person to person, but tattoos generally heal in stages over several weeks. You’ll receive detailed aftercare guidance that I’ll go over with you at the end of your appointment.

A complimentary touch-up is included within the first year of completing a piece.

Yes, I do take on cover-ups, though they are more complex than starting on clear skin.
When inquiring about a cover-up it’s helpful to include clear photos of the existing tattoo and a brief description of what you’re hoping for, whether that’s full coverage, partial coverage, or incorporating the existing piece into a new design. Cover-ups often require more creative planning, and I typically take the lead on the design. In some cases, I may recommend laser removal as part of the process.
You don’t need to arrive with a fully formed plan, we’ll go through your ideal preferences for the piece and discuss options together.

Yes, I regularly work with clients who travel to see me.
If you’re coming from out of town, you don’t need to have your trip fully planned before reaching out. The scope and timing of a project often become clearer after we’ve had a consultation and begun sketching the design. From there, we’ll plan the logistics together, including how many sessions may be needed and how to pace them in a way that feels doable.
If travel is part of your situation, you’re welcome to mention it when you inquire. I’m happy to help guide the planning once we have a clearer sense of the project.
